Sharing national policing information for a safer community
On this page you will find out information and links to CrimTrac corporate documents.
CrimTrac was established under an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) between the Commonwealth and Australia’s police agencies.
In July 2000, the Federal Minister for Justice and Customs and all state, territory and federal police ministers signed the IGA.
The IGA supports CrimTrac as a truly national body. It underpins the development of national information sharing services for police, and it provides the framework for partnership between CrimTrac and Australia’s police agencies.
The Inter-Governmental Agreement is found below.
The Partnership Approach Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed at the 29 June 2006 meeting of Australasian Police Ministers.
It satisfies one of the major recommendations of the Australian National Audit Office audit into the implementation of CrimTrac.
The aim is to establish a common understanding of the relationship between CrimTrac and each State and Territory police agency.
